Dearbhail is a Belfast-based multidisciplinary artist working with visual installations in the form of photography & film, which explores her personal relationship with light, uncovering fragments of safety within these transformational spaces, reclaiming your own silence in these domestic spaces.
Dearbhail McNulty is an abortion activist who was the Belfast Rep for Ulster Universities Pro-Choice Society. This drive for social justice is reflected in her research, influences and current practice.
In July 2023 McNulty worked along side artist Thomas Wells, in assisting him to curtate Sam’s Eden at the CCA in Derry. She then went on to work alongside artist Michaela Nash, working as an art educator for her workshop as part of the Sam’s Eden exhibition.
Dearbhail McNulty wished to explore more with using film as part of her practice, so in September 2023 took part in a five day workshop with Belfast Feminist Film School, where she learned practical film skills which she is know using as part of her current practice.
